Cody had his One Year check up. (He was really 13 months old...)
Height: 30" 45-50%
Weight: 18 lbs 11 oz at a -5% Cody is off the charts for his weight. The Dr says to keep feeding him lots of butter, avocados, bananas, fattening foods
Head Circumference: 18 1/2 " 50%
His first molar came in on october 17th. making 9 teeth in his mouth. This one is his lower right side. It seems like Cody is constantly teething. He is always chewing on his fingers or anything else to relieve the pressure.
Cody loves to swim. This summer he swam in swimming pools in Las Vegas and I was surprised at how unafraid he was to get in the water. He takes this love to the bathtub. He kicks his feet and paddles his arms back and forth in the tub. I think we've got a real fish!
Cody is not only a swimmer, but he loves to play ball. He loves to throw balls and anything else...including glass tree ornaments...which broke....but besides the point...He loves balls and has quite the arm. :)
Cody claps his hands and likes to dance with Decker, mommy and daddy after dinner when we turn on the Chicago Greatest Hits cd.
Decker likes to call Cody "Coda" and "Mr. Bones". He's always saying, "come and get me Mr. Bones".
Cody loves to snuggle and give hugs. It's so heartwarming to see him go up to Decker and just put his arms around him and knock him over with his hugs. When Mike and I come home from work, he gets so excited he bounces up and down and puts his arms out with big grins on his face and just plows his head into our shoulders. I love these hugs.
When we're at church there is another baby that is about 3 months older than Cody and they've shared treats and sippy cups a time or two. Cody loves to go up to Ellenora and give her hugs. His other favorite is baby Harley that is about 10 months younger, Cody always wants to lay on him, hug him and talk to him. It is so cute to see him enjoy other children.
Some other funny things going on: Decker loves his underwear. He has Cars, Batman, monkies and Green Lantern characters on them. He started wearing them backwards. When I asked him why he was wearing them backwards, he said, "I can't see the picture when they're in the back." Much better up front. :)
Decker and Cody have been going to a new babysitter's house. Mara has a son who is about 3 months younger than Decker. She told me one day that she has a hard time keeping Decker out of Cole's dresser drawers. He likes to go through his underwear, because he's got some cool ones too. Funny kid!
Today, when Decker woke up, I asked him to go to the bathroom...which he didn't do right away...I got him some breakfast and then I started walking down the hall and noticed little sprinkles down the hall and in the bathroom. I asked him if he went potty on the floor...he said, "no" and then proceeded to ask me.."Can you clean it up while I eat breakfast?" oh the innocence!
We are having fun...Christmas is upon us and we're very excited to see it through Decker's eyes. When we helped Grandma put her tree up, he asked, "where are all the presents?" Of course, those come with the tree, right?
Decker said the other day it's not Sunday anymore, it's "darkday"...we see a lot of those in Seattle. :)
We were counting Sixteen, Seventeen and Decker says, "Where's "fiveteen"?
Decker knows all his letters and the sounds that each one of them make. Now we're trying to put them together in words and teaching him about rhymes.
I got him these little workbooks where he can practice following the dotted lines to write a letter. I told him it is homework. Now he loves "homework". He says, "I'm going to go do my homework." I hope that one lasts.
It is really fun to see all these new skills being learned.
