Christmas Eve 2009

It's Christmas Eve, and we are spending part of our Evening at Uncle Skip and Aunt Angela's.
It's tradition to have the Nativity story acted out. Decker was an angel.
Grandma the Narrator:
Mommy was another Angel...bringing tidings of GREAT JOY!
The faithful Shepherds...Our sweet Mary..one of Decker's 2nd cousins.
Oh, what Wisemen!!
And then goodies for treats... Then back to Grandma Woods to open their gift from grandma...Pajamas for the grandkids!
Guess what? Santa's coming tonight! Well not really tonight since this post is a month late.... :)

Random pictures from our Hawaiian adventure

A little reminiscing...this picture was taken on our Honeymoon...then we stopped and took a picture in the same location...
Still in LOVE!!
This is the campus that I was working on...
This was our Hotel we stayed at...
Our Jeep we rented after we returned our convertible red Sebring because the trunk wouldn't close...
A couple of Macaws hanging out....
Fun on the beach...
Beautiful views...
What a memorable vacation!

A Solemn Moment at Pearl Harbor

We spent an afternoon at Pearl Harbor looking at all the artifacts, feeling the solemnity of what happened when so many lives were taken... and meeting Santa.

Looking through the Periscope.

It just reminds me of how I am so thankful for all the men and women who serve to keep our country safe and free. What a blessing it is to be an American!

Hawaiian Temple Visitor's Center

So we drove up to the temple even though we knew it was closed for renovations, and we got there before the Visitor's Center closed.
I love how Decker recognizes Jesus everywhere and calls out his name when he sees him.
He even got to sit by the Baby Jesus..

Have you met the Dog?

Did you know Dog, the Bounty Hunter lives in Hawaii? We stood in line for probably an hour to shake his hand.
We also met a Sister Missionary serving at the Hawaiian Temple Visitor's Center that had tracked to his home and therefore, gave us the inside scoop of directions to his house.

Decker met him and didn't appreciate the meeting. :)
Beth was a sweetheart...they both signed Decker's Dog shirt!

disclaimer: Just so you know, we're not crazy fanatics about Dog, but it was a highlight of our Hawaiian adventure not to be passed up!

Bellevue Botanical Gardens 12/4/09

I know, I know, this is so old news, but for my sanity, I'm trying to catch up in a non catch up blogging world...
We went to the gardens to see all the fun lights one night. These are some of our favorites:

Mele Kelikimaka from Hawaii 12/13/09

What a fun week and so many pictures to post! I've been putting this one off like so many others. It was a great opportunity where MBS needed a rep to buy for them in Oahu, Waikiki branch near Diamond Head. So we decided to make a vacation out of it and I took Mike and Decker with me. We just had to buy Mike's airfare. We started up bright and early to catch our 8:00 a.m. flight.
We gave Decker a quick bath in the sink...It's been awhile since we've done this. Decker thinks he's too old for a bath in the sink! :)
This was Decker's favorite toy in the hotel room. Eventually, we just disconnected the phone so we didn't have to keep telling him "no".
The view from our 20th floor balcony. we had them put up this netting to make us feel a little more comfortable with Decker out there. We had many visitors on our balcony.View of the resort from our 20th floor apartment. We arrived in Oahu at about 1:00 p.m. and after we got settled we went up to North Shore. And what a treat! We heard the waves were 50 + feet high....but this ended up being our highlight.: We saw two of these enourmous turtles resting on the beach.

Beach Fun: One of my friends commented, "I hope you're done..." :)

Decker had issues with the texture of the sand, until we buried him...then he enjoyed it.Decker clung for life in the ocean, It was great how he just hugged us so tightly! Well worth it!

And of course the 80 degree weather, wore Decker out. He was so tired from all the fun in the SUN!
