Memorial Day Weekend 2009

OUR HOME IN PARADISE AWAY FROM HOME....

Setting up the first night...Got to get our "kitchen" put together.

Ahhhh, Fire.. .. Next, DINNER....

Our Favorite: FOIL DINNERS. Meat, potatoes, celery, onions and carrots. Decker likes it too!

However, Decker did not like this fake green grass carpet. He's trying his hardest to not touch it with his hands. It made for a great invisible cell. We didn't have to chase him all over the campsite...till DAY 2. ;)

He did like other aspects of camping: Running soft sand through his fingers at the beach.
Sitting around the campfire wearing my hat...
Sticking his feet in the river...no complaints :)
Jiffy Pop! The popcorn came out perfect this time...another use for Mike's Weenie Roaster.
Then to the pool with Uncle Jon and cousins, Ilee and Quin, to clean up from a dirty and tired weekend camping:

Decker actually spoke a few times this weekend. Decker said, "I love my mom"! Mike and I both heard him say it! We both couldn't believe it!

He also said in response to Mike's comment, "This has been such a fun weekend" and Decker responded saying, "Yeeeahh"! It was so cute!
One morning, there were dogs barking at other campsites. Decker heard them and I heard him say "Doggy, woof woof"!

A look back to Memorial Day 2008, 8 months pregnant...
Swollen ankles to match the swollen belly...
Cooking Pancakes for Breakfast...
GOOD TIMES!!

Who Needs an Air Freshner?

When you've got your own sweet smelling Garden Home?Room for four....
I love Spring!

Bath Time Fun

Decker loves his bath time. He's got plenty of toys to play with, all the colorful letters and numbers, sticky stars and squirt toys. He loves to chew on these and you will find teeth marks in many of them. He loves to very cautiously lap up the water like a little puppy. He also likes to kiss his reflection in the round piece of metal below the spout. I have to constantly tell him to "Please sit DOWN!" This was his first bubble bath.
Squiggy in front, Alfalfa in back...

Thanks "Laverne and Shirley" and "Little Rascals"for the inspiration!
And one of the many reasons for baths.... SPAGHETTI!!!!

10 month Pics

Getting Decker to sit still for his monthly picture with Winnie the Pooh is getting harder and harder...See how much fun he's having??? He's trying to get away....so mischievous...

He loves his Winnie the Pooh and is kissing him.
He'd much rather stand than sit...
Finally!
Some of the new or funny things he's done in the past month:
**He has started taking chunks of food out of his mouth and then puts them back in. Examples are: Cottage cheese, avocado and egg yolks pieces.
**He has started shaking his head "no" to food if he's full or not interested.
**Grandma Wood said she heard him say "grandma" on April 28th.
**He's added "ba ba's" and "ga ga's" to his repertoire.
**He does what we call baby Chewbacca sounds. He razzes in the back of his throat. His Uncle Jon Wood also does the "Chewbacca" call and they will talk back to one another. It is very cute!!
**When Decker takes a bath, he will sip up some bathwater very carefully.
**He has mastered the sippy cup! YEAH!! I finally showed Decker how to suck out of the cup and that did it! He learned! I couldn't believe it was that easy!

Alaskan Vacation

Welcome to Anchorage AK!! I had a business trip in Anchorage...so what's better than to make it a little family vacation??? Alaska was still in the Brown Winter stage... but that doesn't mean we didn't see any wildlife coming out of hibernation...
A bald eagle lunching on the side of the Russian River ...Moose Poop... and Moose munching in the field...
and Dasher and Dancer hanging out til Christmas season comes again... Playing in the car rental...love your teeth!!
So much to see and do....
At the Hotel....
This is what we saw every morning. Decker peeking over his pack n play wanting to get out and play with mom and dad in the king size bed...
PLEASE????....
YEAH!! Dad is so fun! Your form is impeccable Decker, but we love this pic for his hair...
Hiking Thunderbird Falls right outside of Anchorage.
I've even got my own tree to hang out in...
...and what would Alaska be without snow??? This is Hatcher's Pass:
Self Family Portrait...
The SWIMMING POOL
I'm so excited to go swimming!!!
Or NOT!!!
Oh but wait... Mom's got the touch...
We're at the Anchorage Temple and Decker is waving "hi"

Dinner at Benihana's with my UAA Bookstore customers.
Decker will be the chef tonight.... You can't see it, but Decker is wearing a UAA baseball cap....possibly a future UAA Grad??So, we had a GREAT time, despite the fact that as soon as we landed and were waiting for our luggage, Decker threw up everything that we had fed him on the airplane- peaches, peas, crackers, cranraisens and probably more that I don't remember. Then having to change our clothes there in the family restroom and then him throwing up all night at the hotel. Then at my customer's store in Soldotna the following day, causing me to have to change clothes once again--lucky we had our luggage with us since we were switching hotels, and then again at the Outback the next night for dinner, and then finally at the ER on our 3rd day there--We were concerned he might be getting dehydrated because the diahrea had set in and he was losing all his energy. We had learned our lesson and Mike had brought a change of clothes for me and Decker just for that very situation. All in all, having to do laundry every day we were there and it seemed that I was always the one holding Decker every time he threw up made it for an even more interesting vacation. Oh and by the way...Decker is all better. He's in to everything and is just a bundle of energy. He is back to his old self and now we're just trying to get him back into a regular schedule and not going to bed at 11- 12:00 every night!
