2 YEAR CHECK UP

Decker had his two year check up last week. Our pediatrician was booked way out so he's actually 26 months old now.
His Stats:
Weight: 25 lbs 10 oz 10 - 25%
Height: 34 in. 25%
Body Mass index 15.5 25%

He's stayed with his same growth pattern since he was born and continues to grow. We've been noticing his pants getting shorter and shorter. :)

Some items that I've meant to write about and have not:

He used to generalize terms like when he calls the Quaker Oats guy "Grandpa" when we'd make oatmeal in the morning.
This past week, we went to drop off my sewing machine for a tune up and Decker sat next to the lady helping us. He leaned way over so he could look into her eyes and said, "Hi, I Decker." She thought he said Tucker, but that's beside the point...he introduced himself to a complete stranger and then continued to educate her on what Buzz Lightyear says..."To infinity and Beyond, Buzz"
He did it again today at the store. I'm just amazed at how social he is being without any coaxing.
He is obsessed with Toy Story. If you ask him what does Buzz say? He answers, "To infinity and Beyond"
Woody-"You've got a friend in me"
Jesse--"Yeehah"

Decker calls his tummy a baby. He calls Daddy's tummy a baby. I think he realizes there is something different about mommy's baby. He loves to put his bare tummy up to my bare tummy or daddy's bare tummy. He kisses my tummy and gives it zerberts and is very gentle. Today my tummy was growling and making digesting noises. I told him it was the baby inside. That just cracked him up. We sat there for a few minutes listening and laughing.
Probably 4-5 months ago, I was getting after Decker for doing something and I started to count to 3 to get him to do something. I started, "one, and he finished with "two", I couldn't count any further, because it shocked me so much that he knew what came next. It just made me laugh!
We've been working on the alphabet, colors and numbers. "B" was the first letter he recognized. Now he can point out "O, M, K and Y" For his colors, he recognizes red, blue, green, white and sometimes yellow. For numbers, he can count up to 10 and recognize 1, 2, 4 and 5. It's just been a joy to see him progress in all his ablilities, intellectually, mentally and physically.

He runs where ever he goes. If I let him climb in the car by himself, he doesn't go straight to his carseat...the driver's seat is where it's at. So as I walk around the car to get him from the driver's seat he runs over to the passenger side and when I start going that way, he goes back to the driver's side. It's quite the game to him...and I'm a little tired of playing it. My "baby" is just getting too big to be chasing him all around. :)
He's been putting sentences together lately too. It used to be that he would point to everyone's car and name who they belonged to. Now he says mommy car, or daddy car. There are too many examples to write, but another of my favorites is, "Here you go". and when I was in Alaska, Decker said, "mommy, up up up, sky." His way of saying that I got in an airplane and went to Alaska.
He doesn't call the church a temple anymore. He calls it church and the steeple a steeple. He knows that daddy works on boats for work. When I tell him daddy is at work, he says boats.

His favorite breakfast foods that he requests are either eggs or oatmeal.
I'm sure I'll remember more things that I'd like to write down after I post this...I'm going to try to make a better effort in writing things that he says and keeping more on top of it.
We sure love this little guy....and guess what? Only 22 days to go...Baby will be here. :)

And just because I love these photos:

Hi Julie,
I'm Jennifer Schmalle's aunt and I love reading about your family. I live in Redmond (I think you live close?) and I was wondering where you took your sewing machine? Mine needs to be fixed and I'd love a recommendation.
Thanks!
Julie

Hi Julie,
I took it to Quiltworks Northwest in Bellevue. Here's their website: http://www.quiltworksnw.com/
I bought my sewing machine there a few years ago...They sell Berninas. It's a great staff and great store. I'm not sure if they service other brands or not and wouldn't be surprised if they did. Thanks for reading my blog! :)

Thanks for the information, Julie! My son is almost three and he is saying "What's that?" all the time. I much prefer that to "No" all the time:)
