It's a Tradition! Memorial Day Camping Trip 2015

I was counting the number of years that we have gone camping at Tolt MacDonald Park over Memorial Day Weekend and this is our 8th year. The weather was perfect..It was overcast but not cold and we got showered on early one morning. Other than that it was wonderful!  We were a little late in scheduling our campsite and ended up with a tent campsite without electricity.  It was the same tent site we had in 2014...not a bad one either.  When we pulled into the park around 8:30 p.m., we noticed a Vacant sign on the first campsite your drive past with electricity hook ups. We stopped and Mike ran over to the host to see if it was available for the weekend.  We lucked out!  The original renters had just called to cancel their weekend stay and it was available for ALL 3 nights!  We paid the difference and began setting up our home away from home.
Mike let me sleep in a little while he prepared breakfast.
He even made a kid's campfire....meaning not a huge bonfire.  :)  The boys love finding long sticks and putting them in the flames.
Mike made pancakes, sausage and scrambled cheesy eggs...  delicious!!!

Last year we had met Dana and her two boys.  I texted her this week to see if they were going to be camping.  They weren't but we invited them to come out and play with the boys for the afternoon.  We walked across the bridge.  Here's Cody climbing on the cables that secure the bridge.  Ever the climber...
This is Dana lifting Decker to look into the telescope.  It shows a picture of how the other bridge used to look before it was replaced in 2007.

and here are all the boys making silly faces...Cody, Tristan, Decker and Cameron in the back.
Our campsite was on the river side, which was a new one for us....we always camped as far away from the river as possible, knowing how much the boys love the water.  Our site was surrounded by trees, offering the most privacy we've ever had out here. Private enough to use the trees and bushes as the "facilities."  We kept thinking how so much will change with a girl....
Here's the boys playing with the campfire.
Then for the evening, Jon, Keppi and Grandma Nickie came out to roast hot dogs and S'mores.  Jon walked with the boys across the bridge.
Grandma Nickie and Auntie K brought a wiffle bat with wiffle balls.  Everyone got a chance at hitting the ball.
 Pointers from Jon...

Even Grandma got in on the action!

 And Auntie K...Strike 1!  ;)

For Mike the bat was too short,so he hit it one handed...

 Cute boys!
They rode their scooters and bikes a lot. We loved that they had these bright orange flags attached to their bikes...You could spot them across the campground!

Auntie K and I must have gotten the memo...wear black and white striped shirts.  ;)

 Yummy Hot Dogs...
Even Dave came out and grilled some venison steak...it tasted awesome!

Mike got these glow in the dark bands and put one on each of their legs and then let them ride around the campground.  They loved that!

 Decker giving dad some love...
These pictures turned out a little distorted due to the smoke, but they were just too cute to not include them.

I think we have some worn out boys!
Next morning breakfast again...bacon this time.  :)
Here's our campsite from a couple of angles.

Decker decided to try some jiffy pop over the fire...he got bored with it before it started popping though.
We took a little excursion to the beach.  The boys had a blast throwing rocks in the water and getting wet.

A little kiss for baby sister.

Looks like a merman on the left...
"Watch boys, this is how it's done!"

Decker was collecting Golden rocks.  He said we were going to be rich!
And then some cute pictures of the two that made this all possible. ;)

A couple of boats sped down the river...
And some family pictures to finish off the weekend.

Each of the boys were going to take a rock to throw over the bridge edge.  Neither of the boys waited for each other, so Mike took this big log and all three of them threw it over into the water.
 bye bye log...
I took the boys to the park.  Decker loves to carry Cody around like this, and Cody doesn't seem to mind.  On Mother's day, Decker carried Cody like this all the way up to the stage and back to sing the Mother's Day songs.

And of course, we had to play a little SkipBo...Decker won this game.

The last night, I came home and slept alone...I got up early to take Grandma Nickie and Auntie K to the airport.  They are going on a 2 -4 week vacation in Italy.  Mike took these pictures of the boys Monday morning.

And of course a little Leap Frog time by the campfire...
We had a great time.  The boys love to camp.  I slept very comfortably in our trailer. I wasn't so sure about that.
There were a couple of funny conversations that we overheard or had with the boys.  One of them, Decker was explaining to Cody what diarrhea was.  "Slippery poo that slips right out".  Lesson learned.
There were a couple of others, but I can't remember them at the moment...will have to think about it.  why I don't write them down immediately...
