This past week, Mike went into Decker's room and found this:
Time to pull up the railing. Since then, he has pulled himself up numerous times...and fallen on his bum numerous times. Mom says, "this is just the beginning, there will be many of those."

I "Woof" You!
After over 100 hours or 4 days without Decker, I was so glad to be on an airplane coming back to Las Vegas from Missouri. Decker had stayed with Grandma and Grandpa Gamble for the week while Mike and I had to work.
It was Valentine's day weekend and Mike and I weren't going to be together. He was so sweet and secretly had one of my coworkers help him get a beautiful bouquet of a dozen red roses delivered to me at MBS. Unfortunately, I forgot them on the plane in Denver on a layover and didn't realize it till we landed in Las Vegas. I was pretty bummed that they didn't make it home with me. But it gave me space in my hands to carry someone else. ......;)
Grandma brought Decker to the Las Vegas airport to pick me up. Like I said, it had been over 4 days since I'd seen him. He had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa ,which, when I saw and reached for him....he hugged on to grandma for an extra second or two. Then he got mesmorized by all the lights, sounds and people of the Las Vegas airport.... and then he came to me. I was so glad to see him. My mom had his hair in his "sumo" ponytail hairdo like I talked about earlier (http://julieandmikewood.blogspot.com/2009/02/mom-and-me-look-alike.html) and she had put little heart stickers on his face and Decker brought me a little stuffed dog key chain that, when you squeeze it, it says "I woof you". Decker was the best Valentines day gift ever!! To make it even more fun, when I flew home to Seattle, Mike had another surprise for me. He had rigged a lamp in our room with a red bulb, so when the door opened the sensor caused the red light to go on and light up the room in a Romantic Valentine Red Hue. He also made a lamp shade out of a paper bag. He cut out hearts and wrote love notes all over it and then covered the lamp, so that when the sensor noticed the motion it also turned on and threw heart shaped lights on the walls in the RED room! It was ingenius! I was so glad to be home!
Hey Baby let's go to Vegas!
We got to go visit Grandma and Grandpa Gamble in Vegas for 10 days. Decker got to stay with them for 4 of those days by himself. I had a business trip in Missouri for the week and Mike had to come back to Seattle to work. So we spent 2 weekends in Vegas and Decker hung out in Vegas while we worked. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!!
Playing with Grandpa....Pepper got a little jealous and squeezed her way between them.
Playing in a walker with my "SUMO hairdo" ...Visiting Aunt Michelle and meeting pets like Chee Chee, her chinchilla...so soft. :)
Getting kisses from Murphy, Michelle's Golden Retriever.
Decker got to visit the place Mommy and Daddy got married...Las Vegas Temple--I'm so lucky!
This was a great week!
Joy of Laughter
I love to hear and make Decker laugh! It just confirms to me that he is a
☺ HAPPY ☺baby. When we were visiting one of my customers a couple of weeks ago in Bellingham, he tied a RED balloon to Decker's stroller. I started punching it to make it move around and Decker thought this was hilarious. This was the first time I remember that an object other than me or daddy made him laugh. It really put a ☺smile ☺on my face

Ahhhh! To Be Young Again!
Aren't there times when we wish we could be young again? Make different choices, less responsibility, have more fun. With the Economy right now, don't we wish we could be as kids again, supported by our parents?
As a mommy and taking care of Decker, I comment on how easy Decker has it....he's carted around in his carseat wherever we go, rides in a stroller, he has no control over what we do with him, but he is just along for the ride wondering "Where do I GET to go next?"
...He gets to nap two or three times a day.
...He doesn't worry about food in his teeth or up his nose,--he just enjoys the chance to feed himself...
...He doesn't have to worry about "holding it" on long trips--he's got a port-a-potty all his own.
He can squeeze into tight spots that we can't anymore...
He doesn't quite understand that there are consequences to all his movements and actions. We just take care of him--and that's all he needs to know. :) Sometimes, Ignorance can be bliss!

Mom and Me Look Alike?
I've had so much fun playing with Grandma, Grandpa and Pepper this week in Las Vegas. Grandma determined my hair was too long, it keeps falling in my eyes, so she put my hair up into a ponytail on the top of my head. Grandma says I look like I am a little sumo wrestler. Anyways, tell me if you think I look like my mom. :) She's the naked one on the bear skin rug at Grandpa Lyon's house. Thank goodness, I've got my clothes on still...how embarressing! :)
