We decided this year we would do a Harry Potter theme. When I was in Alaska in August, they had a book party when the new Harry Potter book came out and the student employees made some cute unique wands to give away as prizes on a spinning wheel. So that is where our theme came from. Rachel from the bookstore offered the wands to me and I chose very carefully a wand for each person in our family....except Kaylie, who was slated to be a CAT--Hermione's pet, CROOKSHANKS. We tried several costumes, but this is what we ended up with. Ears--that kind of look more like a mouse....painted on whiskers and nose, a tail clipped to the back of her pants, I found a black onesie at Value Village and we had black pants and shoes to complete her outfit.
We bought a couple of cat costumes at the costume store to try out, but decided against it and put our own costume together.
Another of my Alaska customers, Lydia and I were talking one day and I told her that I was still looking for one more black robe and she asked if a graduation robe would work because she said she had one she could send me. It worked out great and I was able to order a Griffindor patch to put on it. The other robes and ties, I got from various sources...Free Gifting FB groups. ;)
Do you see those scarves everyone is wearing? We knitted them!!!! I had asked on one of my Free FB groups to see if anyone had any Harry Potter scarves that they would like to unload and one of the members offered to teach me how to use a knitting machine and we could make our own. So I went and bought some yarn and went over to her house so she could show me how to do it. It was pretty awesome, I just cranked a handle and it magically knitted!! It was pretty awesome and I'm still amazed that we made them all....not quite perfectly, but good enough for a Halloween costume. LOL
Mike was Albus Dumbledore. We ordered his robe and hair off of Amazon....he got quite a few guesses on to who he was. Someone guessed he was God and Gandalf from Lord of the Rings. When you saw all of us together, it made sense, but if he was on his own...
Decker was Harry Potter and after I drew the lightning streak on his forehead, Cody who was supposed to be Ron Weasely, decided he wanted to be Harry too.....why not?? So I drew a lightning bolt on his forehead too.
Kaylie has an obsession with pumpkins. I got her a little book about pumpkins and the mouse draws different faces with different emotions on each. We had fun teaching her to make scary, sad, happy, surprised, and mean faces.

The Halloween party at the school had a gym full of music. Kaylie has some rhythm and would dance back and forth to the music....so sweet...someone commented that watching her was the highlight of her night. She was pretty cute!

We also headed out to the Pumpkin Patch on Saturday to pick the Perfect Pumpkin. Kaylie was in heaven!!!

Then we had the ward Halloween party and we went Trick or Treating. Kaylie got one piece of candy and she was done. Ready to sit down and enjoy her bounty.
