Decker says, "It's Mine!"

Toddler Creed

If I want it, It's mine.
If I give it to you and change my mind later, it's mine.
If I can take it away from you, it's mine.
If I had it a little while ago, it's mine.
If it's mine it will never belong to anyone else, no matter what.
If we are building something together, all the pieces are mine.
If it looks like mine, it's mine.

We've had a couple of playdates lately and I've been hearing a lot more of this....

Cody is 6 months old! 4/10/11

Sleep Schedule: Cody goes to bed about 8:00 p.m., wakes up at 11:00 p.m. to eat, then 2:00 a.m.--which I've been trying to ignore, then some time between 5:00 - 7:00 a.m. He has slept through the night about 6 times, and I mean like 7-8 hours straight., but it's not consistent. Then he has 2 naps, sometimes 3 during the day. 1 around 10:00, 2:00 and then a very short rest at about 5:00. - Eating: This past month I had to work buybacks. So for the past 4 weeks Cody has been taken care of by someone other than me. We've practiced with the bottle a few times, but this was to be the big test. He went on a hunger and sleep strike off and on for the last few weeks. He likes to play with the bottle and has to be absolutely starving before he'll actually drink the milk. I thought by the end of the month he'd be a pro, but he still does not like it. I've tried starting him on some solids and the Dr said to keep him at the dinner table with you and watch for interest, put food on his tray that he can mash with his mouth without spoon feeding him. Let him be messy. So I've tried giving him banana pieces and he's eaten the mum-mum crackers. When he gets anything in his mouth, he gags and throws up. The food doesn't even touch the back of his throat. Any solid touches his lips and he gags! I'm definitely not used to this after having Decker, who would eat anything I put in his mouth. :) Also, he wants us to get the Vitamin D with Iron in it. Currently he only takes the Vitamin D. - Skills: On March 31st, I noticed Cody rocking on his knees...not even 6 months old yet. He cruises around the living room, doing an army crawl and scooting and tries to move on his knees. We have to keep an eye on him. Now you see him, then you don't! - His stats: - Weight: 15 lbs 6 oz. 10-25%--He didn't gain much weight these past 2 months...I believe it's because of the whole bottle/hunger strike for the past month. the Doctor was a little concerned so he wanted to have him come back in 6 weeks for another evaulation instead of waiting till his 9 month regular check up. - Height: 26 inches 25-50% - Head Circumference: 17 cm. 25-50% Cody was very quiet at the Dr's office and he thought it was a little abnormal for a baby to be so quiet. Come to think of it, people at church are always amazed at how quiet and well behaved he is... I haven't noticed any consonants yet, but he does talk, especially when he's in his crib when he thinks no one is listening....I think he may be shy. :) Here's his monthly pics with the Monkey that matches the color of his hair...

Here's a link to a video we took on March 27th. It's of Cody practicing his scooting skills, he didn't go very far. Love the giggle and tummy balancing act. It's posted on Youtube.com: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVhqPi9xOnI

Then we took this video a few days later, April 5th...PROGRESS! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpafHjJQddg

Crazy hair

Cody has hair that has been described as Conan O'Brien and Don King. It has a mind of it's own. Lately it's getting longer, so it's laying down more often than not these days. But I love how it can just stand straight up on it's own without any hair product.

He's been getting his exercise in the jumper this month. Cody has a sweet personality. He's a lot like Decker in that he doesn't cry until he gets really distressed. He loves his mommy, Daddy and Decker and always has smiles for us. He is a drooler unlike his brother, it seems like he is teething because he's always chewing on his right side of his mouth. Lately he has been doing the motions of chewing, taking big bites. I've tried giving him rice cereal and peas. He is very tight-lipped and shows yucky faces when I put it in his mouth.

Decker fed him a goldfish the other day....not a real one, just a cracker, but I got pretty upset and made him gag when I fished it out of his mouth.

Decker's discovered the joys of being a boy. He likes to pee outside. Mike let him do it once and since then, he's tried peeing out the window, opening the door and peeing off of the deck, peeing in the bathtub...even when he's not taking a bath, I just don't get it...I guess that's because i'm a girl....though I remember when I was a wee one that I thought it would be cool if I could stand up and go pee in the toilet like a boy. didn't quite work...

Feeding the Ducks

Yay! It's spring and the ducks are out. We saved up some bread to take to Cottage Lake and Decker had a ball throwing the bread to the ducks. Cody's first ride on the swing.

And there he goes....he's a runner! He loves to run...I just have a hard time keeping up.

Excuse me, while I go catch him...
