A couple of weeks ago, we were talking around the table how to celebrate my 40th birthday coming up. Mike was saying, "black balloons, a walker, etc." and my Four year old, Decker, said, "Let's have a PRINCESS Party!" Of course, that's what girls do on their birthdays. I thought it was a fabulous idea...so Mike went with it.
We celebrated my birthday on Friday night. Keppi was in town, so she, Jon and Nickie came over for dinner. We made tacos, yummy salsa, guacamole, the works. It was very yummy! Mike baked and decorated this beautiful chocolate cake.
When we were singing Happy Birthday, my boys were the loudest. So cute to hear them sing to me. it was like they were trying to outdo each other. At the end of singing Happy Birthday a moth flew into the flames and you hear Cody saying, "Bug, bug!"
Cody kept sticking his finger in the frosting..hence the cake monster pic..Eyes were made with melted wax from the candles. ;)
Then I got to open presents! Wow, how exciting! Mike gave me 24 roses and had one of our family pictures blown up for a canvas print. He also got us theater tickets to Memphis and Wicked. --Wicked is actually our Anniversary celebration night out, but they aren't performing till November.
Grandma Wood gifted another place setting for our china, Keppi gave me some lip gloss, a cute Halloween advent calendar and a BLURB gift certificate to help with the printing of our Family Books. Mom and Dad sent us an 81 piece flatware set--all stainless steel. Beautiful and shiny! :)
Cody and Keppi had fun playing patty cake! and Decker liked getting in the box. ;)
Then on Saturday, Keppi was taking me to get a pedicure.--All part of being a princess... :) Shelly, Keppi and I went to the Woodinville Cafe for brunch and then got our toes done. On our way back home, we were all sleepy and talking about taking naps. Shelly was driving and when we pulled on to Mink, she said, I needed to remind her where to turn for our house...as we got closer, I noticed balloons on our fence...that's weird...then I saw our friends truck in the yard...so I thought he was here to help Mike with our windows...then I saw more cars in the yard and it dawned on me...Mike had been sneaky and planned a surprise party for me! As we walked in the door, silly string bombarded my face.! Guess, no nap! :) I was so surprised, I didn't have any idea he could be so secretive!
Cody came and gave me a hug and was concerned about all the silly string in my hair and started to pick it out. Maureen, the Lewises, Ashley Hultquist, the Hollises, Rachna's family, Jen and Shelly, the Lovelesses all came to celebrate with me.
Mike had planned a Barbecue and placed a Princess hat on my head and a necklace that says,
"Behold the Ageless Wonder".
The rocking chair was covered with a Fuzzy, Soft Pink Princess blanket for my throne. ;)
A yummy chocolate cake from Costco. skittles, peanuts, chex mix, chips, turkey wraps, fruit salad, macaroni salad... Tons of food! One of the highlights was Sarah Loveless performing to Michael Jackson's Thriller in our living room. Love that Decker joined in!
Cody rode Scooby Do...who looks like he's sniffing out clues. ;)
Maureen brought me sunflowers...since I'm such a happy person.
The Lewis's brought me a list of what Happened in September 1972 and yellow roses.
Ashley brought me a photo album. A Toblerone from Sarah.
Such a fun party!
When we said our nightly prayers, Keppi said, "And we thank thee that we could celebrate Julie's birthday," and Cody broke out singing Happy Birthday during the prayer. So funny!
