Labor Day Camping 2015

We went camping at our favorite camping spot.  MacDonald Park in Carnation.  We just upgraded our tent trailer, so we were excited to try it out.
This spider web was a discovery we made early on Saturday morning.  (Our condo's fridge died this week and we had to go pick one up and install.  So our Saturday consisted of taking care of that and getting rid of metal that we've collected over the last few months.)
The web was so beautiful because the dew was shining on it and glistening in the morning....I guess it wasn't just dew...it had rained all night....but we kept super dry.  :)
We brought the stroller to keep Kaylie in..so she could go with us wherever we went and hang out at the campsite and nap if she wanted too.  We kept her in Cody's old bear suit, since it was pretty cold.
 Another discovery was this snail.
 Cody loves his baby sister!
Our new campsite.  We didn't reserve a campsite early enough, so we didn't have the water and electrical outlets readily accessible.  However our trailer has a battery...so we had heat. It was awesome!

On our Saturday outing taking care of the fridge, we were out so long that it was 6:00 before we got done.  Auntie K came by the condo and took Cody to Value Village to shop for a new book while we returned the trailer we borrowed.  This is us reading the new book around the campfire.  ("Our Family gets a Pet")

Daddy decided he wanted to take a nap, so I took the kids to the beach.
And the kids wanted to play in the water despite the overcast clouds.

Decker found this pearl...we renamed the beach to "Pearl Beach"
Donna, The host of the campground was awesome.  She kept her ear open if a cancellation came up with the powered campsites.  She raced the boys.  She's on her tractor and Decker on his bike and Cody on his scooter.  A cancellation did occur so we were able to move to a different campsites and then we could try out the shower.  Which came in handy for a couple of elephants...

Decker found a mud puddle...plenty of mud with all the rain we had.  He pretended he was an elephant because they like to take mud baths.  Then he asked if I knew where he could find some dust...I guess Elephants clean off with dust.  :)

Decker used this watering trough to clean off his arms.

Monday morning I was sporting my tennage mutant turtles, camo shoes and striped shirt.  I walked to the restrooms like this and felt a little embarrassed till I saw people brushing their teeth and flossing their teeth outside the restrooms with the water fountain.
 Our new campsite.

Our friend Dave came out to visit and took the boys back to the beach with his dog Gracie.

I sat on the beach with Kaylie while they played in the water.

I laid Kaylie on the chair under her blanket to keep her out of the sun.
Do you see Cody peeking in?

It's Second Grade!!!

Decker is going to be in the second grade.  He picked out this new back pack.  It is a Cheetah!  His favorite show is Wild Kratts.  Two brothers go and explore different habitats and learn about the animals that live in them.  It is part animated and live.  He loves how soft his back pack is.  He also picked out this running suit--pants and jacket and has been anxiously awaiting to wear it along with his back pack.

This is his duck grin...His lips look like a duck's bill.  He wanted to be silly.
I'd say this is his Beaver grin...showing his front teeth.
Just waiting to head to school.  I drove him instead of waiting for the bus stop.  His bus time is 8:55 compared to 8:37 last year.  We are the last stop.
Once we got to school, we immediately ran into Sava.  This is his friend that he has had in his class since Pre K.  He's in Ms. Wagner's class.

Hanging up his back pack.
He has found his seat.  It was moved from where it was during orientation.
Ms Steif is Decker's teacher.
Here is his bus driver.  His name is Brian.  His time to get off the bus is 4:05, however he didn't get home till about 4:20.  Decker is the last one on the bus along with Roark if he is riding.

On August 27th, we had orientation and Meet the teacher day at Cottage Lake.  This is the reading corner with Ms Steif.  He found the Magic Treehouse books and she said that she had all of them--51 adventures.  Decker was excited about that.  Today is September 9th and he read the #1 book in 3 days during their reading time at school.  He's pretty excited about that!
This is their tree of Virtues.
This is the Star of the Week posterboard for Ms. Steif.  We will have to do one for Decker in November.
This was his desk--front row.   This "cheat sheet" with his name on it.  It has money notes, shapes, addition/subtraction tables, ruler, left/right reminders and the alphabet.
And there's the Duck bill grin again.
He's already had timed math tests and he is able to complete all the problems within the alotted times.  So far it's been a great week.  He's already come home with info on the Fun Run where he has to get people to donate $$ that will go to the school.  He has PE on Mondays and Wednesdays, Music on Tuesdays, Art on Thrusdays, Library on Fridays. So excited for this new year and to see what it will bring.
