9 month pictures July 10, 2011

Took Cody and Decker for the Doctor, Cody's 9 month and Decker's 3 year appointments. Decker kept telling me, "I'm not getting a shot, Cody is getting a shot." He was right, no boosters for him, but it was pretty funny, he was very confident that he wasn't going to get a shot. :)

Cody's stats:

Weight: 17 lbs 5 - 10%

Height: 50%

The doctor said his weight has dipped again instead of going up. She suggested to keep feeding him foods high in fat like avocados, bananas, yogurt etc.

Cody has had one allergic reaction...he ended up with a rash on his stomach and back. not sure what caused it...milk in the macaroni and cheese he ate? strawberry bite...not sure

His eating habits are changing. It's really hard to nurse him these days. He is very active and excited by anything going on around him.

Grandma affectionately called him the "human tornado". If you'r holding him facing you, he wants to face out, if you're holding him facing out he wants to turn towards you, so it is a continuous turning on your lap. Changing his diaper and getting him dressed are no longer an easy feat. He is constantly turning and squirming away. It can be very frustrating. But he just laughs like it's all a game!

Getting pictures with the monkey is hard too, cause he loves to kiss and hug the monkey, so to get him to just side by side with the monkey's not happening!

Cody is very playful. He loves to stand unassisted. He's letting go all the time and then gives me a huge grin, because he knows he's doing something awesome.

He loves to shake things while standing: balloons, kitchen towels, clothes, blankets, anything he can wave. He loves to do this.

He has about 6 teeth trying to break through in the last couple of months. A few days ago, his top left front tooth finally broke through the gums. More are coming in. It has left him a not so happy mood for the past month.

CARS 2 June 27, 2011

On our last full day in Las Vegas, we all went to see Cars 2 with Leah and Alex's family, Mike and Alison's family. We saw it 3D style. Decker and Cody slept through the majority of the film. It was great being there with all the cousins!
I have to say I was a little disappointed in the plot...a little hard for young kids to follow...

Happy Fourth of July!

We got up early to go to the ward breakfast at the church. As we pulled into the parking lot, Decker said, "mom, I forgot my tie." Too cute! Mike helped cook in the morning. Red, White and Blue Pancakes ( strawberries, blueberries and whipped cream), hashbrowns, scrambled eggs, sausage and orange juice. YUM! Cody loved the Blueberries!

We brought Decker's bike for him to ride in the parade around the church. There were tons of paraders --bikes, golf carts, wagons, big wheels, roller bladers, strollers, scooters. It was awesome!

Then we went back home to try our luck having a Garage Sale. We made $10.00. We started pretty late in the day and it was the Fourth of July. But it was real relaxing. Our friends, Heath, Nancy and Steve came over to help set up and pass the time and then we BBQ'd steaks. YUM! It was a very relaxing Fourth. We lit off a few fireworks in the front yard and Mike brought his cannon over and set it off a couple of times.

At about 9:00 we drove out to Monroe to watch the fireworks show outside the stadium. We found the perfect spot and parked. We laid on the hood of our car. The fireworks didn't start till after 10:00. But there was plenty of fireworks going on all around us. It was quite amazing. Cody loved watching the beautiful lights. Decker kept asking to get into the car.

I held Cody the whole time which I thouroughly enjoyed. He snuggled right into my chest and rested as he watched the fireworks. He stayed awake for the whole time and just snuggled. I hold him all the time to feed him, comfort him, etc, but it's not very often that this very busy little 9 month old will just let me hold him and snuggle, and for over an hour! I loved it. It was a perfect ending to our day.

Decker is 3!! 7/7/2011

Decker had a Spiderman Birthday theme. I wanted to do a Lightning McQueen cake, but Decker kept telling me he wanted a Spiderman cake...so Here it is...it was actually pretty easy to make and design.Uncle Jon and grandma came over for dinner. We BBQ'd veggie shishkabobs and chicken. Yum! Decker ate lots of chicken and rice. We all threw our webs...

Decker got these green glasses that light up and blink. They were quite the hit.

Dad came home with balloons of all Decker's favorite characters. Elmo, Batman, Scooby do, Nemo, Thomas the Tank Engine, Lightning McQueen and of course, Spiderman!

Uncle Jon and Decker giving knuckles and blowing it up. :)

After Decker opened grandma's present and put on his new Lightning McQueen jammies.

Thank you for all the phonecalls and well wishes for our little 3 year old!

I've posted videos on youtube of all the nights events...mostly Decker opening presents, since some were not able to be here, Videos 1 - 7:

On this special day I had everyone brainstorm about some of the things we want to remember about Decker at this age. This is in no way a complete list. :)

Grandma loves his accent when he talks.

How he's so excited to fly to Vegas on an airplane and then falls asleep.

When we took him to see CARS 2, he slept through 3/4 of the movie.

He sleeps all night.

He's been potty trained since December 2010. In the last month, he no longer wears diapers to bed.

How he says the opposite of everything we say.

Loves to see the moon in the sky and can find it day or night.

Grandma loves to go shopping with Decker at Costco. The first thing they do is find a book for Decker to read while there.

When we're driving in the car, he really pays attention to where we are. He asks if we're going to Home Bepo- (Depot) or the car wash, the church, Jo Jo's, and hates to pass the gas station on 116th, because he wants to go to Grandma's.

He likes to follow Daddy around outside and help him in the yard with the dirt and tools.

He likes to unplant our garden, and pull the rake through.

He always liked to know who was parked in our driveway and would name everyone's cars. He kept track of who was coming and going. --Just like his dad.

He started to sing when he was 2 years and 10 months old. --I've been wanting him to sing with me for a long time and he would fill in the blanks, but never the complete phrases. Then one night I heard him singing, "Rock abye baby". I had no idea he knew the song. Now he likes to sing the "Spiderman", "ABC's", "Eentsie Weentsie Spider".

He has his own stool that travels around the kitchen to where he'll need it...to wash his hands or clean the sink, help me cook, get in the cupboards or on the counter.

He loves to be pushed on the swing, I'm still trying to teach him to pump on his own.

He learned when Cody came into this world, that as I was feeding Cody it was the perfect opportunity for him to get into things...into trouble mostly.

He wants to where his Spiderman Sandals to church and one Sunday escaped from Nursery to the outside, the nursery leaders were close behind him though.

Likes to read books and he loves his Cars Book, spiderman books, Goodnight Moon has always been a favorite.

His favorite movies are How to Train a Dragon, Toy Story, Cars, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.

His favorite color is green.

His favorite food is waffles.

First haircut May 15th and the MOHAWK before the cut

Cody's hair is long like Decker's and we had to do the mohawk pictures, because it too was getting too long and we'd need to cut it soon.

To check out Decker's mohawk, go to this link: http://julieandmikewood.blogspot.com/2009/01/happy-new-year.html

We cut Cody's hair on may 15th...It was not a fun experience for him.

May 17th-Found Cody standing up in his crib. Barely hanging on here. :)
So happy!

7 and 8 month pictures with MONKEY

May 10, 2011 7 months

Went back to the Dr and he has gained 13 ounces in the last month. the Dr is no longer concerned about his growth. I think he didn't gain weight in the last month because it was the first month that I had to work at buybacks and not be with him during the day. Cody is very different than Decker in that he doesn't like to drink out of a bottle or suck on a pacifier. So I think that the milk that I pumped, he didn't drink a lot just because he prefers me. :)
I am so appreciative of the people that watched Cody during this new phase and the challenge it was to get him to eat.

Here are his pictures from his 7th month.

He loves to stick out his tongue. Cody is definitely a wiggly baby. Changing his diaper has been a challenge, he just tries to turn over and get away...wiggle wiggle wiggle

Jump ahead to Month 8--our baby looks more and more like a little man.
Cody loves stuffed animals and kissing them...

He still has just his two bottom teeth. We thought more were coming in, but we haven't seen any yet. He is crawling all over the place and at church on Sunday 6/19, he was standing and let go for a few seconds balancing on his own feet.

He eats all sorts of vegetables and fruit, we've been more agressive in feeding him more than just jarred baby foods. It's been really fun.
