Decker is in the 3rd Grade this year. The kindergartners got a few extra days before they had to start school. So this was Decker's first day of school. Mike went shopping with the boys while I was out of town and got them some new school clothes. Decker loved this lime green shirt--one of his favorites.
His leopard backpack was still in good shape, so he got to use it for a 2nd year in a row. It's so soft!
This is Decker's classroom. His teacher's name is Alison Castro. He sat down right away and got to work with the papers placed at his desk.
Here's a random photo from September...this is Kaylie's first time eating pudding...Chocolate Pudding!
We hired a new girl to help us with Childcare. Her name is Ashlee and she has a 9 month old baby that she brings with her. The force is strong with this one too...Scarlett
Cody is quite the JEDI too!
I finally gifted this lion costume that has sat in my closet for several years, but never saw a Halloween at our house, so I had to try it on Kaylie before giving it away. The Lion's mane matches her red hair.... I also gifted a pink snow suit that she had grown out of...SIGH...it is so fun to see them grow and learn new things...but I already miss the times when they are little.
Now it's Cody's first day of school.
Cody gets to use his R2D2 backpack for one more year. I found out later that one of the kids kept pushing the button and after repeatedly asking him to stop, and not stopping, Cody punched the child. His teachers took care of the situation and it hasn't happened again, so I was never informed of the situation.
Cody was so excited to ride the school bus!!!
He lined up for his class and waited. The little yellow tag on the back of his bus shows what bus he rides and he'll keep it on for a couple of weeks till the teachers and bus drivers are familiar with the children.
Decker was kind and waited with Cody. They wait for each other at recess time. One of the other moms mentioned how sweet it was that these two brother loved each other so much. She said she wished her boys were like that.
There's Cody's teacher Mrs. Sue Wright in the Blue jacket. Cody followed the lines on the ground instead of walking in a straight line.
In his classroom, they all took a seat on a letter on the mats. Cody picked the letter "C".
1-2-3 EYES on Me the teacher says.
I thought it funny how all the parents came in the room to send off their child to Kindergarten. We all had our cell phones and cameras out taking note of this memorable and grand occasion!
September 10th, 2016--Larry Cook celebrated his 75th birthday and Mike and I were invited to the celebration. It had a Mexican theme...so the men wore mustaches and the women wore flowers in their hair. ;) It was a fun evening. The power had gone out because of wind in their neighborhood...which led to the worry of how to heat and finish cooking the food. Mike was on it and got the BBQ burners started and I think we got the generator to hook into the stove. We ended up eating by candle light before the sun went down. lol Yummy Chicken tortilla soup, guacamole, tacos, nachos...all so delicious!!!
We love this man! He has been instrumental in Mike's life...helping him gain a testimony, employment, confidence in his self, advice for every aspect of Mike's life. just to name a few.
The gentleman on the right in this picture was a guy that Mike worked with in Africa 2007. He was making plans to move to the U.S. and start his company. Mike loved reconnecting with him!
Decker at School
There's Sava. I love that Decker has friends that he's had since his Pre K days.
A sign on the front of Mrs. Castro's door.
This is our ART Wall in our Hallway. I'm about to take all of it down, so we can fill it up with the new year Art. Thought I'd take a picture of it.
