Okay, he's trying to pose for me. :) It's the first morning of the first grade. Instead of riding the bus, I took him to school and followed him to his classroom. I didn't want to leave, but knew I couldn't stay. To get started, his teacher Mrs. Stooki, (rhymes with cookie) had some pictures of Mickey and Minnie Mouse for them to color. They could also get some books off of the shelf to read or look at. Lately, Decker has been reading Berenstein Bear books. He found a compilation of them at Grandma Wood's house.
He's had the same backpack three years in a row. It's held up pretty good. When we were at Target, he saw a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle backpack. We resisted getting a new one for him. We did get him a new shirt to wear the first day of school. He picked this one with the Avengers on it.
We got a new shirt for Cody too. His is the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and it's GREEN which they both love. Cody just punched Decker in the face here...showing him some "brotherly" love. Cody's going to miss his brother while he's gone ALL DAY!
We had to stop by the kindergarten line up and say hi to Ilee and Aria. Aren't they cute in their matching coats?
Then the bell rang, so we went to his class. He found a hook to hang up his backpack. And there is Sava! So glad they are in the same class together.
Decker sits on the back row between Kamryn and another girl. Mrs. Stooki said she had an even number of boys and girls in her class...20 children in all.
There's his desk. He's excited and nervous in anticipation.
There's Mrs. Stooki.
The classroom...
When I finally tore myself away...I took Cody over to the playground where he could climb this fireman pole. We practiced this when we went camping this summer. He got about 3 feet off the ground this time. He has to do it barefoot...better traction.
Decker rode the #185 bus home from school. A new bus driver. Keppi came over to see him home. Decker had PE in the afternoon and played a game. Like the story book, Brown Bear, Brown Bear, what do you see? and the kids would take turns naming an animal and then they would act like that animal.
He ate lunch in the school cafeteria...I forgot to pack him an afternoon snack. He has recess twice. It's hard getting information out of him about his day. He liked being there all day and had fun. YAY!
Decker was so excited to see us and Cody. He came off the bus and wanted to give Cody some "brotherly love" punches. I had to ask him to go back so I could get his picture.
The week before School started we had a Meet the Teacher day. So we met Mrs. Stooki and saw his her classroom. We found his desk. There was a little page on it that said, write your name, what's your favorite thing to do and what did you do this summer. Cody wanted to write too. ;)
Some of the decorations in the classroom.
I guess she can be a little silly. I like that. She has an 8 month old baby girl and a couple of elementary age children. Decker's goggles is a slapstick rolled up. It sits right on his nose.
