Memorial Day Camping 2014

We met some other kids this year Cameron and Tristan.  The boys had a blast riding their bikes and scooters with them.  They had some fabulous bug catching tools including this net...which Decker thought it would be fun to put on like a hat...until he tried to get it off and couldn't.  Even with our help, it was a challenge getting it off.  it was very tight on his head.  poor kid!

We went to reserve our spot a week prior to the Memorial Day weekend and found out we were too late to reserve a spot in the hook up campsites.  So they told me they had a one spot left but it was a first come, first serve type of situation.  So I went out a day early trying to secure a spot.  Someone beat us to it.  So we opted for a tent spot and I dropped off our trailer.  We camped for 4 nights.
The campground host let the boys sit in their jeep while Mike chatted with them.

We decided to stay an extra night and some friends we met at the campground invited us to join them in their camp spot. Cameron and Tristan, her sons had made friends with Decker and Cody.  Cameron would come early, over to our campsite and see if they could come out and play.  They rode bikes together and caught bugs together.  They found this salamander having lunch.  they watched him for quite awhile.  Tristan shared his legos with the boys. They loved that!
They were so brave to let him sit on their arms.

Decker rode his bike so much...this picture shows the mud stripe going up the middle of his back and bum.

Decker has officially learned to be fearless on his bike.  He can weave in and out, use his brakes properly and just loves riding his bike around.  Cody is fearless on his scooter and has started to ride a bike with training wheels that we got from our neighbor Roarke.  He loves it!
Auntie K came to visit on our last day there.  She joined us on a little hike across the bridge.
They boys love going over the bridge.  They have a rule that they can't go over there without an adult.  The river is too dangerous.
Here they are trying to climb the cables that hold the bridge down.

And Dad like a monkey, showing off too.  ;)

We made it over to the shoreline where we were headed...where a couple of years ago, Cody was putting these rocks in his mouth... ewww!  He's so much more mature now.  ;)

Is dad really going to throw him in??

Decker got fixated on a rock and made his way out to it...
Success!

Look at those muscles!
And of course throwing rocks into the river was a treat!

And of course, Cody wanted to do what Decker was doing, so he went into the water too.

There's the cute couple that made all this happen.  :)

Now we're hiking back to civilization....another Memorial Day come and gone...

Decker has a great interest in maps...so we took a picture of this one of the park.
Until next year...
