Decker moments 2/24/12

Decker is now a Sunbeam in Primary.  I got released from being the Releif Society pianist and was asked to be the Sunbeam Teacher.  I was a little concerned that I would be Decker's teacher, but it's going okay.  I have loved being the Sunbeam teacher.  The kids are so cute and I have felt the spirit so strongly each week as I've born testimony of the simple doctrines of the gospel. Decker was asked to give the prayer the 2nd week we were in Primary.  We have a podium with a microphone for the children to use.  During primary, he has trouble sitting still in his seat and will run up to the podium.  Anyways when it was his turn to say the prayer I went up to help him, and he licked the microphone and then repeated what I told him to say in a very silly voice as he watched the children in the room.
The primary decided to ask him again to say the prayer last week and when we went up there to say it.  He once again licked the microphone and then said the prayer in a quiet whisper that hardly I could hear.  One child in the room said, " I know he can talk louder than that, he's been to my house."  I had to laugh.

This past week we talked about the Holy Ghost in our class.  A few days later, Mike and he were downstairs going into the dark garage and Decker said, "Daddy, I feel the Holy Ghost".  Mike asked him what that felt like and he said, "He comforts me."
It's great to know that something is sinking in to his little sponge.  :)

Decker is such a joy.  I love having this little boy.  Lately, he likes to come in the kitchen when I'm making dinner and sits there to help me make it and we have the best conversations.  It warms my heart, because he is so happy to be there with me.  I let him lead the conversation and he is just sweet.  I can't even remember what the dialogue has been, but I remember the feeling of awe and love and the thought that I don't ever want this to end.  He is so sweet and happy.

Decker is a sound sleeper.  We can vacuum in his room and he'll snore away.  We can turn on his lights and put clothes away in his drawers and he'll keep on sleeping.  It's great!  He is in a stage where he is starting to drop his afternoon nap--which I feel he still needs and I need.  :)  He would rather go to his room and have "Quiet time"  or take a "short nap".  He still has a 9:30 bedtime and usually gets up around 7:30.

His favorite movies lately are Thomas the Train and Scooby Doo.

He still takes great comfort from his baby blankets.  He has "Green" and "Blue".  The other day he asked me if I put the satin on them just so he could rub it between his fingers?  Of course I did.  :)  He talks to his blanket like it's a person.  He'll ask if Green can watch him eat.  And he tells me that Green is his friend and he loves him.  He still takes him wherever we go as a comfort in the car.  Decker and Cody will not share their blankets with each other.

When we're watching a movie or TV together, Decker takes cues from me and will laugh when I laugh.  Very cute.  He likes to snuggle with me and he come to me and say "I want you", or "hold me".  I really try to oblige when he asks me this.  He's my big baby.  He'll ask me to "carry him like a baby" from the car to the house and vice versa, which at times is hard because I'm usually carrying Cody too.

We try to go to the library 1 night a week.  They usually have a "pajama night"  where we go and listen to stories and then do a craft and then Decker loves to run into the library and find videos on the video wall--usually Thomas or Scooby do and then some books, usually Caillou, Thomas and Curious George.  I love going to the library with him and love that he loves books so much.

Cody's been sick, coughing with a runny nose this past week. Dr. Decker said, "I think he has the flu." I asked him how he knew that? He said,"It's just like Caillou. He had the flu." (Caillou is a preschool cartoon boy.)  I had to laugh...inside of course.  :)

Yesterday, Decker came and said, "Let's talk about Cody".  I said, "okay, what do you want to say?
He said, "Cody likes being a boy.  He likes to crawl and he likes to stand up."  That was all I got out of him.  Cute though!

Decker was in the bathtub the other night and I hear him telling his bath Thomas toy to put his nose in the corner.  We don't usually use that form of punishment, so I asked him if Miss Annie made him put his nose in the corner when he's naughty and he said yes.  I'm still not sure what Thomas did to deserve putting his nose in the corner.  :)

They made this fort with their blankets on top of the red slide at Grandma's.

Decker still loves to put on his Spiderman costume.

Decker was proud of his little train track and trains.
