January 2012

I got back from a snowy Alaska on Saturday night and came home to a Snowy Washington.  We got a phonecall Sunday morning alerting us of slippery roads and that church would be cancelled.  That was the beginning of a long week of Snow, snow and more snow.  Then freezing snow and rain.  We had 3 power outages.  The longest lasting 36 hours.  Mike figured out how to  hook up the generator to our furnace on the last outage.  We labeled all of our panel switches in the electric box so  next time we will be more prepared.  Nickie stayed with us all week and we stayed with her when we lost power at our house the last time.  We didn't drive anywhere.  Mike missed a couple days of work and they closed down Seattle Boat one of theose days.  There were several businesses that were shut down by this crazy storm with over 250,000 Puget Sound Energy customers without power.  This week we welcomed sunshine on Monday.  A lot of the snow has been  washed away by rain, but there is still quite a bit of snow to remind us of last weeks' challenges.  Our fence was knocked over by branches that came down during the wind storm, so we'll have to repair those slats.  There was some fun times during the week as well.  Our backyard has just enough slope to make a great sledding run.  Here's Mike giving Decker some hot chocolate.

Lots of snow and smiles

Poor Cody just watches the boys from the window as they play outside, throwing snowballs at the window.

A couple of funny things from the last couple of weeks that I want to remember:
Cody has started folding his arms when we get ready for prayers.
Decker said "Darnit" the other day and just a few minutes later we heard grandma Wood say "darnit"!  LOL  Made us laugh!

Merry Christmas 2011

Christmas this year was so fun!  Here's a Gingerbread Train that Decker put together.  He kept asking if he could put the "Bird House" together.  :)
On Christmas Eve we went over to the Woods.  There were less people there this year, so it was a small cast.  Mike and I were Mary and Joseph this year and we had a baby doll for Baby Jesus.  Decker got to be an angel.
We also made the Barry Mix to hand out to friends and family.  This has become a Wood tradition.  Pretzels, Chex, Cheerios, Kix, M&Ms and glued together with white chocolate.  We made about 40 bags.
Grandma and Decker during the Nativity.  Decker was so ready for bed tonight.  He could hardly keep his eyes open.

Then we went home to our house where Aunt Keppi and Grandma stayed the night with us in great anticipation for the morning.  We had the boys open 1 gift each with their matching pajamas.  Then as we tried to take pictures of them in the rocking chair.  It started out happy...
 Then something happened...LOL

Christmas morning before everyone came out.  It was a Cars and Thomas the Train Christmas...Cars tent, Cars chairs, match box cars, Percy trains for the train table.
 Cars lunch box...
Cody's favorite present was this broom...just his size.
Had to try on his hat and mittens...
Breakfast Christmas morning.  Hashbrowns, waffles made from our old waffle Iron that Mike fixed with a wooden handle--I need to take a picture of that, sausage, eggs, hot chocolate.  YUM!
Decker's favorite present was his eReader.  It comes with 8 books and you push a button for each page that is read aloud to him.
Cody and Keppi and his broom...

Then there is the fun with all the empty boxes...

Cody's happy to be in his pack n play with his new teddy bear and church clothes from Aunt Kep.
 Love my boys!

Merry Christmas!
